Guy Rosser Johnson, Jr.

July 6, 1940 — April 3, 2015

Guy Rosser Johnson, Jr. of Raleigh and Lake Gaston was lifted up in the arms of his Lord on Friday, April 3 at Select Specialty Hospital of Durham surrounded by his loving family.  Guy, 74, was born in Belhaven, NC on July 6, 1940. He was the son of the late Guy Rosser Johnson, Sr. and Belva Sykes Johnson.  Guy was a full time member of the North Carolina National Guard, later working for the State of North Carolina and N.C. State University.  Guy’s fun part time job for several years was driving the N.C. State cheerleaders to their games. Guy spent many wonderful days at Lake Gaston.  He especially enjoyed sharing his home there with family and friends and found such pleasure in seeing them have a good time.  He was always ready for a game of Hearts.  Guy was an active member of Prospect United Methodist Church in Ebony, Virginia. Guy is survived by his wife Brenda Jones Johnson formerly of Garner;  a son and daughter, Tony Fogleman and wife Susan of Lawndale, and Dee Hatley and husband Ed of Raleigh; grandchildren, Daniel and Mary Fogleman of Lawndale, Calvin and Zane Hatley of Raleigh; sister-in-law Camelia Seagroves and husband Jimmy of Garner;  brother-in-law Jerry Jones of Garner and wife Brenda;  sister Linda Dennis and husband Maurice of Virginia;  niece Cathy Miller and husband Tommy of Willow Springs;  niece Jamie Lee and husband Paul and great nephew Bryan of Garner;  niece Kelly Crews and husband Randy of Virginia;  niece Tayloe Brooks and husband John of Virginia;  niece Rebecca McConnell of Virginia;  special cousins Anne and Carlton Metts and Letha Benton all of New Bern;  and a faithful four-legged companion Jewel. Memorial service will be held Monday, April 6 at Bryan Lee Funeral Home, Raleigh, N.C.  at 2:00.  Family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.   Graveside service will be held Tuesday, April 7 at Montlawn, Raleigh, N.C. at 11:00.  Memorials may be made to Prospect United Methodist Church, Ebony, Va. or Wounded Warriors Project, 4200 Morganton Rd. #300, Fayetteville, N.C.  28314.
