Hannah Senter Messer

Raleigh- Hannah was born December 22, 1931 to Brodie Allen Senter and Nettie Watkins Senter. She was predeceased by her brothers, Allen Senter and Eugene Senter and her sisters, Ruth Senter Wilkins and Faye Senter. She is survived by her brother, Robert Senter. She was married to the late Herbert H. Messer for 42 years until his death in 1994. She is survived by her daughter, Jane M. Hunter, and husband Rick Hunter and by her son Tim Messer and fiancee Kimberly Ellis. She is also survived by grandsons Richard and Ben Hunter and several nieces and nephews. Hannah was a lifelong Raleigh resident. She graduated from Hugh Morson High School in 1952. She retired from the State of NC after 25 years of employment. Hannah was active at First Baptist Church in Garner as long as her health permitted.  She especially enjoyed her Sunday school class.  She also enjoyed the Senior Fun and Fellowship Group and the outings with them. We have many wonderful memories of holidays and family meals at her house. She loved to cook for her family (especially meat loaf, vegetables, chocolate cake and pecan pie). Hannah enjoyed meeting her friends for lunch, going on beach trips, and watching UNC basketball games. She never failed to be there for her family and loved us so much. As to Hannahs life, “Dont cry because its over, smile because it happened.” Dr. Seuss. Funeral Service 11:00 A.M. Monday February 19, at First Baptist Church, Garner, NC. Visitation 5:00 - 7:00 PM Sunday February 18 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner, NC.
