Harold George Pappas

September 2, 1939 — May 15, 2022

With the comfort of family by his side, Harold "Hal" Pappas passed away peacefully on May 15, 2022, from a sudden illness complicated by his years-long battle with advanced dementia. "The truest measure of a man is how tall he stands in the eyes of his family." In his family's eyes, Hal was a giant among men. He was known to say that family comes first and he lived that philosophy daily in his devotion, fierce protectiveness and unconditional love for his wife Marjorie "Marge" and their daughters, Christina and Stacie. Born on September 2, 1939, in Boston MA to George and Stella Pappas. Hal would only have to wait 17 short years to meet the love of his life. Though he didn't make the best first impression on her, Hal was instantly smitten by Marge and it didn't take long for her to become "my girl." It was a moniker that he remembered until the very end. Married on a rainy October day in 1966, after ten years of courtship, Hal and Marge went on to build a lifetime's worth of memories together, from raising a family, to travel adventures overseas and so much more. Their marriage provided their daughters with proof that happily ever after is, in fact, real. Hal was a Veteran, having served four years in the Air Force. He was stationed in the Canadian Province of Labrador and Colorado Springs, CO. Upon honorable discharge, he sought to expand his education with the GI Bill, graduating from Northeastern University with a degree in Business. Hal was just as devoted to his daughters, as he was to his wife. Stacie was the beneficiary of her father's Greek good looks and Christina acquired his height and love of reading. Though Hal had high expectations and they could expect a verbose lecture if he felt they needed guidance, there was never any doubt that it came from the depths of his heart. He wanted the best for his children, always. He instilled an irreproachable moral compass in both of his daughters, leading by example. Hal was a sports fan, particularly of basketball, football and golf. He golfed for decades and he loved to try new courses. He also enjoyed his time as a ranger on a local golf course during his retirement. His other love was reading, demonstrated by the constant presence of a Kindle by his side. He enjoyed multiple genres of both fiction and nonfiction. Hal's memory lives on in the hearts of his wife, Marge; daughters, Christina (Robert) and Stacie (Judson); brother, Peter Pappas (Kathy); his beloved granddaughters, Zoë and Ava; niece, Molly; nephew, Sam; and many cousins. There will be no service at this time. Our family would ask that instead, you honor Hal's memory by taking a moment to reaffirm your love and devotion to the ones you hold closest in your hearts. We also respectfully ask that you consider making a donation in his memory to a Dementia/Alzheimer's organization of your choice, towards either support for families or research towards a cure.
