Harold Wilbur Landrum

October 22, 1929 — September 7, 2017

Raleigh - Harold, 87, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2017. Harold was born in Monroe County, AL. His family moved to Wilson County, NC, where he graduated from Charles L. Coon High School in 1948. After graduation, he attended Atlantic Christian College in Wilson before serving in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1950-1953. After his service, he attended North Carolina State University, graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1958.  He then received his Master’s Degree in 1960. He worked for 41 years for the NC Dept. of Transportation and retired in 1994. Harold dearly loved his wife Christine, with whom he shared almost 52 years of marriage. He was devoted to his family and adored his two children, Beth Breedlove (Michael) and Mark Landrum (Susan); as well as his four grandchildren, Alan and Hannah Chandler, and Lydia and Anna Landrum. Harold was predeceased by his father, Roy Dean Landrum and his mother, Mary Dees Landrum. Harold was a member of Forest Hills Baptist Church for 51 years, where he faithfully served as a member of the Willing Workers SS Class and several committees.  He enjoyed being a part of the Wake County Tax Payers Association and The Western Film Preservation Society. The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation for the loving and compassionate care that was given to Harold and the entire family, by the staff of the Duke Raleigh Hospital ICU and 3rd Floor. The family will receive visitors on Monday, September 11th from 6-8pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Rd., Raleigh 27604. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 12th at 11:00 am at Forest Hills Baptist Church, 201 Dixie Trail, Raleigh 27607. A graveside service will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Ave. Raleigh 27612. Memorial contributions may be made to Forest Hills Baptist Church.
