Harriet Whitney Koot

RALEIGH – Harriet Koot, 84, passed away on March 7. Harriet was born in Saugerties, NY to the late George and Margaret Vedder Whitney. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 10th from 6pm to 8pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner. Funeral Services will take place on Friday, March 11th at 2pm at Holland’s United Methodist Church. Harriet married Jan Koot in 1962 and they began their life together in Kingston, NY. They moved to Raleigh in 1976 (with some time spent in the Atlanta, GA area). Harriet loved traveling, especially to Europe and Hawaii. She and Jan also enjoyed a wonderful 3 month, 3 day cross-country trip of the US. They were prominent in revitalizing the Young at Heart Club with Holland’s UMC. Harriet is survived by her loving husband, Jan. She is preceded in death by her brother, William Whitney. Mr. Koot would like to thank neighbors, Gina Kennedy and Shirley Mahler for many years of help and blessings.
