Harriett Leigh Sloop

May 3, 1955 — March 28, 2018

Harriett Leigh Sloop, 61, passed away peacefully at home in Angier, NC with her family. A native of Wilson, Co, she was the daughter of the late Samford and Mary Reason Johnson. Known by family and friends as “Leigh”, she graduated from Broughton High School in Raleigh. Harriett went on to become a CNA in the early 80’s and later finished her career as an Office Manager for the American Way. She had a bond like no other with her granddaughters and loved and adored her great-grandchildren. Harriett was a lover of animals and was a member of the Humane Society and many others supporting them to help animals in need. There will be a Memorial Service at 3:00 PM Sunday April 8, 2018 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel, Angier. The family will receive friends and relatives after the service. Along with her parents, Harriett was preceded in death by her husband, John Sloop of Marshville, NC; sisters, Mary Jo Rideout of Wilmington, NC and Doris Ward of Raleigh. She is survived by daughters, Trina S. Rideout of Angier, and Heather Gorham of Florida; granddaughters, Allyson Diane –Lee Rideout of Winterville, NC and Samantha Carrie-Louise Rideout of the home; great-grandchildren, Aubree L. Truelove and Jeremiah O. Rideout and brother, George Reason; sister-in-laws, Nita Sloop Brooks, Starr Sloop and Lucy Love.
