RALEIGH – Hazel Lucas Dixon, 91, passed away in the early hours of Monday, October 9, 2023.
She was born in Wilson County on June 16, 1932, the daughter of the late Bennie and Mattie Lucas. Hazel retired from the NCDMV in Raleigh after many years of service. She was an active member of Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Church in Raleigh until her health declined in recent years.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, C.B. Dixon; sister, Frances M. Lucas; brothers, Roman Lucas, Leland Lucas, Bennie Lucas; and her beloved brother-in-law, Glenn Davis.
She is survived by her step-daughters, Jan Byrd and husband, Mark, Sharon Laton and husband, Daryl; 2 grandchildren; sister, Velma Davis; brothers, Eugene Lucas and wife, Frances, Blaine Lucas and wife, Charlene; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 13, 2023, at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC 27603.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Hazel’s memory to Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Church: 521 Polk Street, Raleigh, NC 27604; or to Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church: 5843 Shiloh Church Road, Wilson, NC 27596.
