Helen D. White

Helen D. White, 83 years old, passed away on March 20, 2012. Born October 28, 1928 to Luther Thomas Davis and Blanche Maidon Davis in Johnston County, she graduated from Corinth-Holders High School in Wendell before moving to Raleigh to attend Kings Business College.She worked many years at Proctor Plumbing and Heating and Ferguson-Sullivan, Inc. before retiring with her husband in 1986. In retirement, they traveled together often. Helen enjoyed exercising with friends at the YWCA and YMCA pools. Her cooking talents were well known. Helen was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church since the early 1950s.She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Chester B. White; her parents, Luther and Blanche Davis; brothers, Sherwood, Thomas and Willard Davis; sisters, Magdalene Buffalo Conyers, Mozelle Sealey and Wilma Lane.Helen is survived by her daughter, Beth Sykes and husband Alston of Raleigh; son Barry White who resides in Longwood, Florida; three grandchildren Brianna Ari and Kevin Sykes, and Kelly ONeal; brother-in-law Carl Lane, sister-in-law Doris Davis; many nieces and nephews, and many, many cherished friends who helped her heal after being widowed.The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, March 23rd at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home at 831 Wake Forest Road in Raleigh. Funeral services will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church on Saturday, March 24 at 11:00 am. Burial Historic Oakwood Cemetery.The family wishes to express special appreciation for all the visits, prayers, phone calls and cards from friends and relatives, and to Drs.
