Helen Glover passed peacefully at Western Wake Hospital in Cary, NC on July 24, 2021, surrounded by her family. Funeral service will be Thursday, July 29, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner, NC, followed by a visitation. Burial will be at Bailey City Cemetery, 11379 HWY 581, Bailey, NC at 3:00 PM. Helen is preceded in death by her parents Elijah Bunn and Eva Lamm Bunn; Spouse, Billy Guy Glover; Brothers, James Maylon Bunn and Milton Douglas Bunn; Sisters, Cleo Bunn Corbett, Janice Bunn Glover, Evelyn Geraldine Bunn Register (Gerri), and Linda Joyce Bunn. Survived by her sons, Steven D. Glover (Chris) and Timothy R. Glover (Patti); two grandchildren, Steven Ryan Glover (Katie) and Katherine Glover Earlosky (Jaryd); five great grandchildren, Sarah Cate, Caroline and Maggie Glover, Jaryd “JJ” and Bodie Earlosky; and sisters, Vara Kay Bunn Pittman, Joann Bunn Price, and Elaine Bunn Hinton (Randall). They were the light of her life. She also had many nieces and nephews she truly loved dearly. Helen graduated from Bailey High School in 1949 and moved to Raleigh in 1958. During her many years of service with the State of NC, she worked as a Technician Supervisor at Dorothea Dix Hospital, where she received many awards. One award was for an outstanding contribution to the care of the mentally ill and handicapped patients. She also received awards for Psychiatric Tech of the year and Employee of the Month. Helen was always interested in new methods and treatments. She became involved especially in the Behavior Modifications Program and completed a Supervisory Development Course. Helen showed a great deal of interest in caring for the mentally ill during her 35 years of employment at the “Hill”. At the age of 36, Helen became single parent of two boys, ages 9 and 13, when her husband Billy died in 1967. She adored her children and even in her later years still thought of them as “her boys”. Before becoming unable, Helen enjoyed being with and traveling with her friends and family. They all had many fantastic adventures together. She enjoyed going to play Bingo and going to yard sales with friends and listening to bluegrass/gospel music. Helen was a caring and thoughtful person and considerate of others.
