Helen Jean Murray Tawney

RALEIGH –Helen Jean Murray Tawney, 78, died Sunday, October 8, 2017. A native of Zebulon, NC, she was the daughter of Julius R. Murray and Eva Bryant Murray. Helen retired from USF & G Insurance Company.  She served several times as Worthy Matron of Garner Order of the Eastern Star 321. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 am at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner.  Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7:00 pm -9:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. She is survived by daughters, Anita Faith Tawney and Robert Price of Raleigh, Rhoda Marie Tawney Blake and husband, Joseph of Benson, Kathryn Tawney Grady of Fuquay Varina, Kaye Tawney Wise and husband, Tommy of Fuquay Varina; son, Marvin Wayne Tawney of Dunn; brother, Harold Murray and wife, Shelby Jean of Raleigh; grandchildren, Jason Honeycutt, Cortney Parsons, John “TJ” Blake and wife, Malia, Lisa Wise Herndon and husband, TJ, Jessica Wise Miller and husband, Michael, Ashley Wise Edwards and husband Trae, Tasha Tawney Burdette and husband, Orin; great-grandkids, Tyler Blake, Makalah Herndon, Brooklyn Blake, Jordan Herndon, Mikey Miller, Tehryn Miller, Anya Burdette, Harper Edwards, Rilynn Edwards and baby Pierce Edwards; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Tawney, Sr. and son John Tawney, Jr; sister, Marjorie M. Bottoms; brother, Bobby and Frank Murray.
