Henry Flowers Marshall, 93, of Raleigh, devoted and loving husband, father and friend, died Wednesday morning at The Oaks of Mayview Convalescent Center. Henry was born in Carrollton, MS, to the late Frank Lamar and Sallie Maie Marshall. He received a B.S. from MississippiState in 1940. He taught at GoldSandHigh School, where he met and married teaching colleague, Arzelle Ozzie Hodge on June 8, 1945. They moved to Raleigh where he worked as a district sales manager for Sparta Grain and Feeds, retiring in 1983. Henry was a jack of all trades who owned and maintained his rental properties, served as a scoutmaster for ten years, operated a community cannery, built two homes and designed his own home. At LongviewUnitedMethodistChurch, he taught Sunday school and served as a trustee for 30 years. Henry traveled abroad and throughout the U.S. with Ozzie, his son, and the Good Sam Camping Group. A former Master of the Lodge, he received a 50 year pin from the James Johnson Masonic Lodge #413. Henrys kindness, generosity, and helping others were a constant theme in his long and well-lived life. He is survived by his son, Albert and partner, Robert Warren of Walla Walla, WA; daughter, Wanda Creech and husband Terry of Raleigh; three grandchildren, Parks Creech and wife, Susan, Tori Creech and Winston Creech; a great grandson, Holden Creech and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1987. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00AM Saturday in the chapel of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road. A private family burial will be in SelmaMemorialGardens after the service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
