Henry Lane Warren, age 82, died peacefully on April 16, 2021 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC. Born on August 30, 1938 in Surry, VA, Henry was the son of Charles Edgar Warren and Esther Lane Warren. He is survived by his twin brother William,his sister Estelle Holdsworth, and nieces and nephews. Henry served 25 years in Civil Service for the US Government including the Pentagon and Camp Pendleton. Known as“Ol' Chicken Bird”, he did volunteer work at the NC Museum of History, Ten Thousand Villages, Forest Hills Baptist, Westwood Baptist and Emmanuel Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC. He was a member of the Keenagers Club at White Memorial Presbyterian. Henry received commendation from the City of Raleigh for his volunteer work on his 75th Birthday. He took great pride in the upkeep of his beautiful Rose Garden at the Raleigh Apartments where he lived for 20 years. Touched by the devastating earthquakes of Nepal, Henry went there twice to share his life story and love the orphans. He was “BAJE”- “Grandfather” to the children of Nepal. His positive attitude and adventurous spirit made his legacy one to remember. A kind man with a servant heart, Henry will be missed by friends and family around the world.
