Herbert E. Stevens

CLAYTON- Herbert E. Stevens, 86, passed away surrounded by his loving family. Herbert worked for the State of N.C. as a mechanic for many years. He also proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Graveside service will be at 2:30 PM Friday Nov. 20, 2015 at Maplewood Cemetery in Clayton with Military Honors. Herbert was preceded in death by his parents; Ernest and Maggie Parrish Stevens; sister, Doris Harris and brother Charles Stevens. He is survived by his wife of 64 years; Violet Mooneyham Stevens; daughters; Tonia Stevens, Vonda Lindsay and husband Robert; sisters, Lola Self and Peggy Adleberg and grandchildren, Tyler and Nash Lindsay and special nephew Anthony Jones. The family will receive friends and relatives at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner  Friday from 1:00 – 2:00 PM prior to the graveside service. The family would like to thank the staff at Barbour Court Nursing Home in Smithfield and Community Home Care and Hospice for their care.
