RALEIGH- Herbert Lee Jones, 83, a veteran of the US Army, died Tuesday. He was known for his love for his family, his compassion and for being a great story teller. He taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. Golfing, fishing and spending time with family were his favorite things. Mr. Jones graduated from both Mars Hill College and Carson Newman College. He was a teacher with the Wake County School System, as well as a Health Inspector with Wake County. Funeral Service will be 2:30 PM Friday at Quest Fellowship Church, 5120 Raynor Road, Garner, NC. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Catherine T. Jones; daughter, Emily King-Potter and her husband, Johnny of Raleigh; sons, David Jones and wife, Mary of Fuquay-Varina and Stan Jones and wife, Julee of Creedmoor; brother, Bobby Jones and wife, Margaret of Raleigh; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
