Hernando Lambuyot Lentayao

January 5, 1945 — December 19, 2018

HERNANDO or “Nanding” to many was born January 5, 1945 in the town of Kabasalan Zamboanga Del Sur in Philippines. He was the 4th son of Perfecto and Nena Lentayao. He and his four siblings (Toto, Carlos, Nong and Nendeng) was orphaned at their very age. They were all adopted by their Aunt Bo and made sure all 5 children will all stay together. Life is hard for them, they are poor but Hernando finish school with a Bachelors Degree of Education. He was a Valedictorian from Elementary to High School and was granted by the Philippine Government of full Scholarship throughout college. At young age in the province, community people remembered him as a young volunteer to any social functions in the ‘barrio’ (little town). He enjoyed going to the ocean, swim and fish with his brothers, cousins and friends. In 1965, he travelled and took a chance to live in Manila to find better opportunity. And in 1967 he joined the CHURCH OF CHRIST and became an active member since then. He took an office as a Deacon and was a devoted server of God. He and his wife continue to offer their house for CWS (Children Worship Services). He delightedly sponsored, helped and assisted Evangelical workers and Ministers assigned in his local. 1972 was the year he got married to the love of his life “MILAGROS” and had their first child “JACQUELINE” (Kelly). On the beginning of their marriage, he juggled from being a husband, a father and a teacher. He teaches at the University of Manila and Technical Institute of the Philippines and during this time, their second child “JOCELYN” (Joy) was born. As much as he loved teaching… travel time, expenses and fatigue made it difficult for him to keep the job he adored. He was forced to apply to a manufacturing company (PhiltoFil) closer to home to afford providing for his family. They then had their youngest and only son who he named after him “HERNANDO Jr.” (Jay-R) and he continued working for the company and retired after 27 years. In year 2013, Hernando was granted a Green Card and migrated to United States of America. He lived happily and was impressed by the bounty of the land of Milk and Honey. He enjoyed so many activities like Fishing and swimming in the lake, rivers and ocean. He also gained a passion on riding and driving a boat with his son-in-law “JAY” (Kelly’s husband). He is fond going to Camping with his grandchildren in Georgia, “IRIS, XENIA and ANDRE” and he even went to experience hiking with the assistance of his son-in-law “ERWIN” (Joy’s husband). In spite of the fact that he misses his only grandchild in the Philippines “QUEENIE”, he started loving America dearly and strived to become a U.S Citizen. He had his Citizenship interview last December 6th, he answered all questions correctly and passed with flying colors. Hernando’s kindness was an inspiration to many, a man with a pure heart, a caring husband, a loving father, a sincere friend, a joy to everyone. His smile is impeccable and served sunshine to some cloudy days. His cheerful way is adorable and his sense of humor is remarkable. He was happy going in the Operating Room for his scheduled Bypass surgery on December 10th, knowing that he passed the U.S Citizenship and thinking that he fulfilled a good, honest and fruitful life.
