Hilda Marcus

RALEIGH - Hilda Marcus, 66, passed away in the early morning of Thursday, February 17th, 2022. Born in Israel in 1955, she developed into a teacher, a researcher, and a scientist. These interests followed her as she immigrated to the US and earned her PhD from Ohio State University and took her work to organizations such as the FDA, NIH, and USUHS. She was also a devoted mother who taught her everything from math to language and knitting and crochet. Hilda was, in addition, a prolific and creative cook who loved cats, gerbera daisies, the warm sunshine, and reading everything from Clancy to Liu Cixin. While her last few months were spent in the hospital, she remained strong, stubborn, and hopeful – true to herself always. Her absence is a void, and she will be sorely missed. She is survived by her daughter, Li Ana Marcus, as well as her son-in-law, Henry Fitch, who she often called the son that she never had. An outdoor, graveside service will take place at 2:00pm on Monday, February 21 at the Raleigh Hebrew Cemetery (450 N State Street Raleigh, NC 27601). Masks are requested for those attending.
