Hyson Lee Smith

ANGIER—Hyson Smith of Angier, North Carolina passed away on February 10, 2024. Hyson was born on February 27, 1957 to the late Billy Carl Smith and Doris Mills Smith, and lived his entire life in the Angier area.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his dear friends Lassie Mae James and Betty Holland Barbour. He loved to spend time with Mae and Betty going to the Mayflower for a fish plate followed by antique shopping in Selma. Nothing brought him joy like spending time with his girls.

Hyson had an eccentric sense of humor and was full of laughter. He was a true storyteller and enjoyed sharing stories from his past. Hyson was a source of joy to all who knew him. He was simple, authentic, and honest. He would give you the shirt off of his back and was always offering to dance at your next wedding.

A graveside service will be held at Lakeside Memorial Gardens on Thursday, February 15th at 1:00 pm.
