GARNER – Mrs. Inez Ward Smith, 95, died Saturday, Sept. 30 at the SECU Hospice in Smithfield. Funeral services will be held at Palmer Memorial FWB Church at 2038 W. Garner Rd, on Saturday, October 7 at 11:00 AM with visitation preceding the service from 10:00 to 11:00. Officiates will be her grandson, Harrison Smith, Rev. Joe Myrick, Rev. Don MacDuff and Rev. Charlie Carroll. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a member of Palmer Memorial FWB Church. Mrs. Smith, a native of Alamance County, was born on March 6, 1922 to the late Charlie G. and Eula Moser Ward. She was married on Dec. 18, 1943 to the late Lewis E. Smith, who passed in December, 1986. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her son, Johnny L. Smith She is survived by her sons, Richard L. Smith and wife Laura, of Clayton, Dennis W. Smith of Garner, and daughter-in-law, Pansy H. Smith of Garner; Four grandsons, Kenneth Smith and wife Katrina, Randy Smith and wife Allison, Spencer Smith and wife Amber, and Harrison Smith and wife Lauren; five great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Violet W. Stewart of Burlington and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Smith was well-known and beloved by family and friends for her kindness, sense of humor, ability to speak well of everyone and her hospitality and love of serving food for family and friends-no one ever left her house hungry. She has left a wonderful example for family and friends in how she lived. She will be deeply missed by her loving family and many, many friends. Flowers are welcome or donations in her memory can be made to Palmer Memorial Free Will Baptist Church.
