Irene J. Batten

Irene J. Batten, 87, went to her heavenly home, on Monday, April 4, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. A native of Johnston County, Irene was born November 19, 1934, to the late Lloyd and Bursie Johnson. Mrs. Batten was retired from Data General Corp., after 21 years of service. She was also a member of Turner Memorial Baptist Church, since 1964. Funeral Service will be Friday, April 8, 2022, at 1:00PM, in the Chapel at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road, Garner, NC 27529. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park, 12830 US 70 Business West, Clayton, NC 27520. The family will receive friends from 11am – 12:45pm, at the funeral home. Irene is survived by her daughters, Sharon Batten Davenport and Lisa Batten Whittington and husband, Chris; grandchildren, Stephen Davenport and wife, Alisha and Carmen Langdon Lineback; step-grandchildren, Garrett Whittington and wife, Claire and Nicole Whittington; great grandchildren, Addyson and Nicholas Davenport, Emory Lineback, and Kendyle Whittington; sisters, Kathleen Batten and Linda Baker and husband, Burwell; brother, Bobby Johnson and wife, Beth; and her special niece and nephews, Freddy Batten, Donna Godwin Price, Robert Johnson, and Jim Baker. In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Carmol Batten; granddaughter, Christy Davenport; sister, Jo Godwin; and niece, Cathy Batten Creech. The family would like to acknowledge their entire family for all of the tireless love and support they have always shown to Irene.
