ANGIER – At the age of 83, John Franklin Myatt left us on Sunday to be with his Lord and Savior following a short but courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loving family and friends. Devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to the Angier community, Frank is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carolyn Fowler Myatt, daughters Debra Fields, Tammy Janowski and husband Steve, Jennifer Grill and husband Dan, son Mark Myatt and wife Linda, brother Tom Myatt and wife Ann, sister Peggy Rhyne and husband Donald, as well as 4 grandchildren, Cassie, Joseph and Cerissa, Amanda and Jake, Rachel and Aaron and 6 great grandchildren. Born to Florine Olive Myatt and Charlie Grimes Myatt on James Austin Rd. in Willow Springs on February 13, 1933, Franks attachment to NC was only interrupted by his 22-year military service in the U.S. Air Force. Most notably, he honorably served with distinction in Vietnam and while heading the USAF Honor Guard at Bolling Field, Washington, D.C. Following his retirement from military service, Frank and his family settled in the town of Angier where he enjoyed a 40-year real estate career as an associate with Pleasant Realty. His pride and love for the town of Angier and its people was heartfelt and boundless. The family will receive friends and family on Wednesday night from 6:00-8:00 pm at Bryan- Lee Funeral Home, Angier. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2:00 pm at Angier Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Angier Memorial Cemetery. While flowers are appreciated, a memorial dedication may also be made in Frank Myatts name to the Angier Memorial Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 1348, Angier NC 27501. The family also wishes to thank the Rex Hospital ICU nursing staff and Dr. Ahmed Farag for their dedication to our fathers care and comfort.
