J. Harold Dupree

Jasper Harold Dupree, 87, passed away on March 19, 2020. Harold was born March 9, 1933 to the late Wade A. and Ruth Cecelia Barbour Dupree. He was raised on Hwy 210 near Angier NC in Johnston County and graduated from Cleveland High School in 1951. He served in the US Air Force from 1951-1954 and was stationed in Japan during the Korean War. He was baptized in the Sea of Japan by Air Force Chaplain Dr W. Freddie Carlock, who he served under. Dupree retired as an executive with Phillips Petroleum Company in 1986 after 32 years of service and then served as a consultant for the Petroleum industry in NC for a couple of years. He married Sally Carol Adams of Angier in 1956 and they lived in Garner until 1966. After retirement in Waynesville NC, they lived in North Myrtle Beach for 20 years before returning to Garner in 2012. They were married almost 61 years until her home-going in 2017. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Garner. A private family service will be held to celebrate his life. The family plans to broadcast the 2:00pm Saturday March 21 family service via Facebook Live through the Facebook page of Marty Dupree. He is survived by his son, Marty Dupree and wife, Angela, of Raleigh; 5 grandchildren; Wheeler Dupree and wife Logan, Courtney Dupree Dickens and husband Al, Darcy Dupree and fiancé Taylor Ferguson, Dawson Dupree, Harper Dupree and 2 great grandchildren; Adaline and JT Dupree, a brother, Joe Dupree and wife, Gloria, of Myrtle Beach, SC. In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Sally and his brother Gerald Thomas Dupree. “Harold Dupree was a generous and faithful steward of the many blessings that God afforded him.” In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to TheJasper.Foundation at 4229 Landsburg Drive Raleigh NC 27603.
