CARY, NC- Rev. James Wilson Allen, 89 died Saturday. A Baptist Pastor since 1946 he served Front Street in Statesville, NC where he met his future wife. Upon moving to Archdale, NC to pastor the First Baptist Church, this being a mission start-up of a new church, he served 1949 - 1952. He then moved to Salisbury to pastor at Enon Baptist Church 1952 - 1963. He was called to First Baptist Church in Carolina Beach, NC and served there until 1969. He was then called to Rose Hill Baptist Church in Duplin Co., NC until 1975. He then moved to Ayersville Baptist Church outside Mayodan, NC in Rockingham Co. until 1983. Upon retiring from Ayersville in Rockingham Co., he served as Interim in two churches in the area and preached at several other churches in the area. A Memorial Service will be held 1:30 PM Wednesday at Enon Baptist Church, 1875 Enon Church Road, Salisbury, NC. The family will receive friends following the service. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Molly Travis Allen; daughter, Melanie Allen; sons, Jimmy Allen and wife, Caroline and Stan Allen; 2 grandchildren and spouses and 3 great grand daughters.
