Jack Gibson Edwards

Our dearly beloved, Jack Gibson Edwards, Sr., 86, passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. Jack was born in Raleigh, NC on December 16, 1934. Funeral service will be held Sunday, August 1, 2021, at 2:00pm, with David Crabtree officiating, at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road, Garner, NC 27529. Visitation will follow. After 42 years, Jack retired from WRAL TV/Capitol Broadcasting Company. He was Chief News Photographer and News Room Operations Manager. He loved his profession and his coworkers. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Louise Satterthwaite Edwards; brothers and wives, Jimmy and Dot Edwards, Charles and Elda Edwards, and Bob and Billie Edwards. He leaves behind his wife, Ruth; daughter, Jennifer Bruce and husband, Reid; son, Jack Edwards, Jr. and wife, Sharon; grandchildren, Trae Edwards and wife, Ashley, Morgan Bruce, and Michael Bruce; great grandchildren, Harper, Rilynn, and Pierce Edwards; his favorite sister-in-law, Judy Smith and Dorothy P. Burkitt; special niece, Christy Baldridge; as well as several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the Rex-UNC Hospital staff for their loving care of their beloved Jack. To know Jack was to love him.
