Jack Walker Reid, Jr.

April 26, 1947 — July 1, 2022

Jack Reid, 75, U.S. Army veteran, beloved husband, father, and grandfather; passed away peacefully with family by his side on the afternoon of July 1, 2022. Jack was the son of the late Jack Walker Reid, Sr., and Dorothy Carson Reid. He was a resident of Bear Creek, North Carolina. A burial service will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at White Memorial Presbyterian Church in Willow Spring, NC. Jack is survived by his wife, Linda King Reid; daughters, Deborah Kitchen, of Cleveland, Texas; Amy Katherine Reid, of Chesapeake, Virginia; Ruth Rockenbaugh (Ryan) of Ashburn, Virginia; and son, Michael Reid (Kelly) of Winterville, NC; sister, Juanita “Nita” Taylor of Newport News, Virginia; one niece and nine grandchildren. His family and friends cherish memories of his quiet strength, strong faith, humor, love of athleticism and animals. He was a tennis and chess champion as well as a dedicated husband and father. He was also a graduate of South Mecklenburg High School and attended Appalachian State University. He served in the US Army and was honorably discharged. Jack worked for over twenty-five years in drafting and computer-aided design
