Jack L. Farris, 80, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2025. He was born in Edmonson County, Kentucky, on May 31, 1944, and was the son of the late Elbert and Faye Farris.
In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded in death by his sister, Betty Black; brothers, James Farris and Carl Farris; and by his son-in-law, Wil Ankerstjerne.
Jack was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather. He grew up in Louisville, KY and graduated from Valley High School in 1962. On August 7, 1971, he married the love of his life and best friend, Jean Farris, spending 53 memorable years together. Together they raised two children whom Jack loved very dearly.
Jack honorably served his country as a member of the United States Air Force from June 1, 1964, to May 25, 1968. He later attended trade school for engineering and went on to pursue a career in engineering. He dedicated 30 years working at IBM as a customer engineer until his retirement in 1998. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends and will forever be remembered as a man of great strength and unwavering conviction. He made sure he attended all the functions his daughters had including helping coach them both in soccer. This continued with his granddaughter. He was a self-taught carpenter who built his kitchen cabinets, frames, quilt racks and many other things. He was a friend to everyone he met and if they needed help, he was there with his humor and a smile.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Jean Farris; daughters, Michelle Bruni (James Bruni) and Leigh Ann Ankerstjerne; and by his granddaughter, Cailey Bruni.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 26th from 12pm-4pm at Jean Farris' home. Please contact family members for the details.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jack's memory to a charity of your choice.
