Jackie Pittman

Jackie Pittman of Garner departed this walk of life to enter her heavenly home on Saturday.  She was born in Johnston County to the late Vonza and Minnie Beasley Underwood. Jackie loved her family and was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother.  Her greatest desire was to live a life that honored her Savior, Jesus Christ.  She shared the love, peace, and joy that Christ put in her heart with as many people as she could.  Her love of music lead her to serve as a church pianist for many years and to teach others how to play the piano. She also worked as an administrative assistant at the NC State Legislature before she retired. Some of her happiest times were spent at the beach with her family, and traveling with her husband, Bill.  She left many happy, precious memories of her life with her family and friends. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Garner. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. She is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Bill; a son, Timothy “Tim” Pittman; a daughter, Gail Pittman; two sisters, Doris Trabant and Marcia Vail (George); and two grandchildren, Alexandra and Capt. Jordan Lee Pittman, U.S. Army. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, V.J. and Billy Underwood; two sisters, Joevelyn  McClenny and Merle Thornton. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11-1 PM at First Baptist Church, Garner.
