Jackson Ray Edwards

June 27, 2008 — July 3, 2022

Jackson ‘Jack’ Ray Edwards passed away from a courageous battle with Covid on Sunday July 3rd, 2022, at UNC Children’s Hospital surrounded by his mom, dad and brother. He was born on June 27th, 2008, in Raleigh NC to Patsy Slaughter and Ray Edwards. Jack had just finished the 8th grade at Martin GT Magnet Middle School Raleigh and would have been attending Garner GT Magnet High in the fall. He was a loving, intelligent, funny, giving, kind young man with a heart as big as the sky. He had a true passion for his friends, video games and all electronics and excelled at them from a very young age. Jack’s favorite colors were red and black. His loving heart and infectious smile made you remember him. He enjoyed watching YouTube videos, making short films, Spiderman, his dog Buddy, dressing up for Halloween, going to the movies, ice cream dates and the many fun shenanigans him and his mom went on; Jack would have sailed to the moon for his mom, if that’s what she wanted. Jack shined like a bright light in this world and was absolutely adored by his family. Jack operated on Jack Time and didn’t worry about getting anywhere in too big of a hurry. He was accepting of everything and everyone and just wanted people to be happy. The world needs more people like Jack in it. Jack will be missed every moment of every day and his memory will live on always in the hearts of his family and friends. To all that prayed for Jack, we thank you so very much. If love and prayer could have kept him here, we know it would have. He was a true fighter, and we are thankful he is free of suffering and in the arms of Jesus. Jack was preceded in death by his grandparents: Louie Tayloe Slaughter, Jr. Joseph “Poppi” Watkins, Lester Ray Edwards, Patricia Earp & David Earp. He is survived by his loving family, which includes his parents, Patsy Slaughter and Ray Edwards; brother, Jacob Ray Edwards (Phoebe); nephew, Jace Ray Edwards; grandmother, Dale Watkins; aunts & uncles, Leslie Bolick (Dale), Donna Cronin (Tommy), Joseph Edwards (Taunia), Tony Slaughter; cousins, Shannon Redd (Hurley, Elizabeth & Everleigh), Kristen Bolick, Joseph Edwards Jr., Thomas Henry Cronin III, Brittany Edwards, Delaney Cronin & his adorable beagle, Buddy. We know he was welcomed into heaven with great big hugs from all his grandparents. Please, in lieu of flowers, try to be more like Jack and just help people, accept people, and love people – all people. #Jackstrong
