James A. Reno (Jimmy) went to sleep on May 31, 2018 with his beloved son and wife by his side and also his four legged son, Charlie. Jimmy served in the Marine Corps and received an honorable discharge as a Sergeant in 1975. He also served in the NC Army National Guard as a Staff Sergeant and as a Lieutenant. He moved to Raleigh in 1984 and served as a Captain and Company Commander in the Army Reserves. He served in combat in Iraq during Operation Desert Storm and later retired as a Major. Jimmy graduated from Western Carolina University with a Bachelors and Masters degree. He also graduated from NCCU School of Law and was a licensed attorney for 30 years. Jimmy worked for the US Postal Service as a Station Manager and retired from the Environmental Protection Agency after serving 33 years in the Federal Government. Following retirement, Jimmy and son Brian began a car dealership and followed a passion for collecting classic cars and trucks. Jimmy is survived by the love of his life for 46 years, Connie, and his best friend and son, Brian. He is also survived by his Dad, Albert Jessie Reno, Jr. (AJ) and was predeceased by his Mother, Margaret Robinson Reno in 2015. He is survived by his sisters Robin Reno Barry (Tom), Annette (Annie) Reno Haag (Roger) and his Brother, Johnny Stewart Reno (Dana). Survivors also include his nieces , Anna Hormig (Collin), Katie Reno and nephew Corey Reno. Ms. Ashley Sutton (Rosebud) will also miss her Uncle Jimmy and the great time they shared with each other in addition to Wanda, Shirley and Teressa who shared great memories with him. The family would like to thank Dr. Neeraj Agrawal and Melissa Smith(PA) of Duke Raleigh Hospital Cancer Center and the wonderful nurses in the Duke Raleigh ICU unit, Dr. Agrawal’s nurses and staff and the love and care from the nurses and staff in the chemo infusion unit. We would also like to thank Nurse Ann and Belva from Transitions LifeCare for the loving care they provided to our loved one. No public services will be held at this time. Jimmy now is in Jehovah’s memory and is awaiting for the resurrection to the new world when there will be no more suffering or death, we will be waiting on you our love – always in our hearts and memory.
