James B. Lassiter

Raleigh- Jimmy Lassiter, 80, of Raleigh died Monday after several months of declining health. He was born in Raleigh on April 22, 1933 to the late Eddie A. Lassiter and Ida Katherine Hicks Lassiter. Jimmy retired from the U S Postal service after 32 years of dedicated service and was a veteran of the U S Army. He also was an associate of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Nell Boykin Lassiter and his daughter, Catherine Voron. Jimmy is survived by daughters, Debbie Jo and son-in-law Paul Graham and their children Jessica and Michael; Betsy Jean and son-in-law Jim Stewart and their daughter Brianna; son-in-law, Bob Voron; adopted daughter Carol Gworek; brothers, William E. Lassiter and Douglas L. Lassiter; sister, Mrs. Jane Katherine Smith. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 29, 2013 at 11:00AM in the Chapel of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30AM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park with Military Honors.
