GARNER-James Jim Bennett Tyson, Jr., 69, died Wednesday at his home. A native of Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late James Bennett Tyson, Sr. and Edith Grace Whary Tyson Hudgins. He was also preceded in death by his step-mother Lona Tyson and step-father Hutch Hudgins. He was employed as a computer analyst with the NC Department of Public Instruction prior to retirement. With his heavy Georgia accent everyone knew Jim was a die hard Georgia Bulldog fan. He also enjoyed golfing and spending weeks at the beach. While Jim had many joys in his life, his greatest joy was his son, Scott. Jim loved his country and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force in the 60s. Memorial service will be 11:00 am Saturday at GarnerFree Will Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00-11:00 am prior to the service.Survivors include his wife, Tammy L. Tyson; son, Scott Brandon Tyson and wife, Kristin; sister, Carol Hambright and husband, Sam, as well as 18 beloved nieces and nephews.
