James Daniel Clapp

October 14, 1988 — May 22, 2023

ANGIER – James Daniel Clapp, 34, passed away Monday at his home. Born in Wake County, he was the son of Rhonda Wood Clapp of Angier and the late James Larry Clapp.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 27th at 2 pm in the Chapel of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier. It will be followed by a private burial service at Lakeside Memorial Gardens, Angier. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughters, Hailey Nicole Clapp and Alayna Michelle Clapp of Erwin; brother, Lee Owen Shattuck (Melissa) and nephew, Gavin of Medford, NJ; sister, Jennifer Shattuck Keown and niece Lili of Fuquay-Varina; brother, Joseph Alex Clapp of Port Charlotte, FL; aunts and uncles, Lee Wood, Jr., Alice “Faye” Watkins, Linda “Darnell” Johnson (Don), Pat Adams, Steve Wood, Trudy Smith (David), Carolyn Currin, Kammy Thornton, Jack Brewer and Marjorie Myers; as well as many cousins.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his son, Lee Michael Clapp; aunt, Gail Wood; uncle, John Watkins; uncle, Johnny Adams; uncle, Joe Currin.

First and foremost, James loved his girls with everything he had. They were the light of his life and he would do anything within his power to make them happy. He loved his family fiercely and he had a special relationship with his niece and nephew. He was protective of his sister, a best friend to his younger brother and he looked to his older brother as a father figure. He was so proud of all his siblings’ accomplishments and their biggest supporter.

He would always tell each of his aunts and uncles they were his favorite when he would see them or talk to them. If you ever needed a laugh, James could do it. He was fond of prank calls as a bill collector.

James’ passion was welding, however, in his short 34 years, he was a carpenter, an electrician, a plumber and a landscaper. As James would say, “I can do anything.” Everything James did, he did it with 150%. He was an over achiever.

James never turned away a friend in a time of need. We wish we could name each and every person that had a special bond with James but there are too many to mention.

If you didn’t know James Clapp, you missed out.

“Son, your struggles are over.”
