It is with great sadness that the family of James (Jimmy) Edwin Warren announces his passing on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at the age of 83, following a short battle with leukemia. Jimmy will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy Bradford Warren, and his children, Deborah Alford, Terry Friddle and husband Charlie, and Sandra Warren. Jimmy will also be fondly remembered by his six grandchildren: Scott and Stephen Alford, Kim Tetterton and Megan Hibbard, and Jamie and Ryan Fargis, and his ten great-grandchildren: Makayla, Griffin, Meredith, Micah, Emma, Noah, Silas, Savannah, Olivia and AJ; and his nieces Cindy Levinson and husband Chuck, Beth and Hope. Jimmy was predeceased by his parents, Edwin and Gladys Warren, and his sister, Carolyn Kacperski. Right out of High School, Jimmy spent a number of years in the Army Reserves. He worked with the Raleigh Fire Department for thirty years, rising to the position of District Fire Chief. After leaving the Fire Department he and his wife owned several small businesses, including a detail shop and a funnel cake concession trailer. After “really” retiring, Jimmy and Dorothy sold their home in Raleigh and traveled the country for fifteen years in their R.V., seeing the sites and making life-long friends in their Rally Club. For the last ten years of his life he and his wife made their home in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Jimmy loved his wife, his three girls, his grandkids, great grandkids, NASCAR and N. C. State Athletics. He was a long-time Mason and Shriner. Visitation will be held at the Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road in Raleigh, on Saturday, November 17, 2018, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the family plot at Montlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Jimmy to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
