James Floyd Cosby

CLAYTON – Jim Cosby, 89, passed away on Tuesday. Jim was born in Wake County to the late Walter and Estelle McGee Cosby. A longtime member of Aversboro Road Baptist Church, Jim was a life member of the Garner Civitan Club, serving over 55 years. He served his country in the U.S. Army and retired as a field representative for GMAC. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1:00 PM at the Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel in Garner. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. Jim is survived by his daughters, Ellen Brantley of Kinston and Patty Cosby Hilliard and husband, Dennis of Clayton; grandchildren, Shelly Rivera (Victor), Ashley Lawson (Philip), James Paul Hilliard and Wes Brantley; and great-grandchildren, Ryder, Kori, Kerrington, Kenly and Shawn. In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Ann Workman Cosby; sister, Edna Earl Cosby Brown and brother, Billy Cosby.
