James Floyd Mcgee, Jr.

Garner - James Floyd McGee, Jr., 91, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, June 2, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 28, 1931, to the late James Floyd McGee, Sr., and Mamie Langdon McGee of McGee's Crossroads, Johnston County. James was a gifted home builder and built houses in the Wake and Johnston County areas until his retirement. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved all his family. He would always greet everyone he met with his warm smile and gentle handshake. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed playing his guitar, and listening to country and bluegrass music. James was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years; Betty Langdon McGee. Three brothers; Maxie McGee, Colon McGee, and Roy McGee. Four sisters; Floy McGee, Thelma Byrd, Eva McGee, and Alene Cook. Surviving are his daughters; Veronica Sessoms (Charles) of Clayton; Yvonne Lloyd (Gene) of Zebulon. Grandchildren; Brandon Sessoms (Jennifer) of Garner; Keri Fisher (Brian) of Currie; Jared Lloyd (Jessica) of Raleigh; great-grandchildren, Taylor Sessoms, Cade Sessoms, Lucas Fisher, Jameson Lloyd, and Everett Lloyd. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel in Garner. A visitation will take place prior to the service, from 12:00 - 12:45 p.m. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Smithfield . The family would like to sincerely thank all the staff at Gabriel Manor ALF, Clayton, NC for all their continuous care and support during his residency there.
