CARY - James (Jim) Grant Rasor, of Cary, passed away on Jan. 9, 2021 at Transitions Hospice Home in Raleigh. He had been in declining health for several years. Jim was born in Alexandria, VA and lived in Austin and New Orleans before making Raleigh his home. Jim graduated from N.B. Broughton High School in 1959. After graduating from NCSU in psychology and design, he began his career with the NC Dept. of Commerce and Industry where he developed the design department. Jim owned a graphic design/advertising firm for many years receiving many national and international awards. He especially enjoyed mentoring young designers. Jim cherished his membership at Christ Church and the Back Bench, a group of guys who graduated from Broughton in 1959. Jim is survived by his wife, Mollie, of 58 ½ years and his son, Lee and daughter-in-law, Cristina of Fuquay-Varina, along with close relatives. He is also survived by his dog, Maddie. Jim was preceded in death by his son, Greg, parents, Henry and Leo, and brother, Jerry. A special thank you to all the staff at Transitions for their kind and gentle care of Jim. A private service for the immediate family will be held at the Memorial Garden at Christ Church at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 14, 2021.
