James (Jim) Danuski, 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Garner, NC on Tuesday, March 29, 2022. He was born on December 31, 1939, in Pittsfield, PA, to the late Dominic and Mildred Danuski. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Shirley Fitzgerald Danuski. Jim was a 1957 graduate of Youngsville High School. During his career, he worked for AVM in Gowanda, NY and later the company moved him to Florence, SC. As his career progressed, he worked for General Defense Corp / Olin in Red Lion, PA where he retired in 1999 as R&D manufacturing engineer. Over the years Jim was involved with various clubs and organizations including the Sugar Grove Rod and Gun Club, the Jaycees, and the food bank of Garner Area Ministries. Jim was definitely one of a kind and someone you never forgot. He loved telling long tales, especially to the grandkids. He was as good as they come when it came to telling dad jokes and playing tricks. You never knew what he was planning next. Jim retiried to Raleigh, NC, where he enjoyed cooking meals for his family and big Sunday dinners. He loved doing projects around the house, landscaping his yard, and working in his garden. During his lifetime, Jim planted several thousand trees and plants. Being outside talking to the birds, feeding the wildlife, neighborhood cats and walking around with his dogs were just some of the things he found peace in. Jim never faced a problem he couldn't solve. Not many can forget his Polish MacGyver engineering. It may not have been pretty but it always worked. Jim leaves an ever growing legacy, including daughters, Sheryl Ray (Burnie) of Apex, NC, Laurie Amig and fiancé Jerry of Apex, NC and Amanda Hinojosa Danuski (the late Roel) of York, PA; grandchildren, Crystal Ray Borrelli (Chris), Lauren Ray, Dylan Amig, Austin Amig; great-granddaughters, Madison Beckwith, Caroline and Morgan Borelli; great-grandson Mason Amig; sisters Pauline Stec of Pittsfield, PA and Mary VanCise, of Columbus; and brother, Tony Baran of North East, PA and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Jim was preceded in death by two sisters, Margie Taydus and Eleanor Kowalski, two brothers, Richard Danuski and Bill Blair. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Canine Companions, 7480 New Albany-Condit Rd, New Albany, OH 43054. Service plans will be announced at a later date.
