James Lacy Hobby, Jr. 84 passed away peacefully, Sunday October 1, 2023, with family by his side.
He worked many years with the U-Haul Corporation followed by CC Mangum and then eighteen years with Gelder & Associates Road Construction Crew before retiring in 2021.
Affectionately known as Lacy to friends and family, he had many hobbies and interests. His greatest joy was his family. One of the most important things he taught his children was to treat everyone the same, no matter their worldly status, and if someone needs help, you help them. One thing that brought much joy to him was the ability to grow and tend his gardens strictly for the pleasure of giving the harvest away to others. Lacy loved his garden and grew many types of vegetables and flowers and could often be seen out on his tractor working the fields.
Lacy is survived by his wife Jean, sons, Jay (Tammie), Mike (Lelle), daughters, Donna Marie Smith, Cindy Roebuck (Chip) and Tammy Church (Curtis). He also is survived by 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren with one on the way.
He is preceded in death by his father, James Lacy Hobby Sr. and mother, Martha Hobby, sister Gwen Prior, brother Jerry Hobby and half-brother Charles Sauls.
