James Leroy Rosequist

James “Jim” Leroy Rosequist passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023.

Jim was born in Erie, PA on January 30, 1946 to the late Kenneth and Charlotte Rosequist. He spent his formative years in Erie working as a paperboy, participating in boy scouts and gathering blackberries where they grew wild. This childhood would later be the source of many tall tales for his children and grandchildren.

After graduating from high school, Jim enlisted in the Air Force and studied electronics. A great storyteller, Jim loved sharing his European adventures from his days in the Air Force. When he was discharged, Jim decided to leave the cold north behind and settle in Norfolk, VA, where he met his wife, Georgia. Later, the happy couple would move to North Carolina where they would spend the rest of their married life together. Their marriage was a blessing for 55 years.

Jim was smart, gregarious, grumpy, loving, silly, meticulous, hardworking and loyal. He loved working on projects around the house (real or invented), but he was happiest sitting in his recliner with his dog on his lap and his wife by his side.

He was the rock and the foundation of his family, and he will be dearly missed by his wife, Georgia C. Rosequist; his brother-in-law, Frank L. Wayne; his daughter, Nicole C. Mellott, her husband, Derek M. Mellott and son, Trystan S. Branch; his son, Kenneth J. Rosequist and his sons, Gavin L. Rosequist and C. Sage Rosequist.
