James Linwood Clark

July 20, 1950 — November 22, 2021

James “Linwood” Clark, 71, of Garner/Atlantic Beach, North Carolina, went home to be with Jesus, surrounded by his family, November 22, 2021. Linwood lived most of his life in Garner, North Carolina and attended Garner High School. Linwood had a strong work ethic, and as a young boy loved working in his father’s barber shop and grandfather’s store. He began his successful masonry company, Linwood Clark Masonry, in 1971, at the age of 21. Over the years he had many business ventures along with his primary masonry business. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his beach home. He cherished his time with his children and passed down his passion for fishing, hunting and traveling. He was an avid UNC fan. He enjoyed watching every sport event. Linwood’s greatest title in life was Papa, as his grandchildren lovingly called him. Papa was the perfect combination of silly and loving to his grandson, Wyatt and granddaughter, Lila. Throughout his illness, his grandchildren brought him so much happiness and joy. Linwood always took care of those around him, his family, friends and work family. He accepted his diagnosis and met it head on with courage and a “Get it Done” attitude which inspired all he encountered. Linwood’s family is grateful to his employees; Annette, Donnie, David Che-okee, Miguel, Artemio and Joel for their tremendous support during his illness. Family visitation will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021 from 3-5 pm at Bryan Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road, Garner, NC 27529. There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at 2:00 pm. Linwood will be missed greatly by his son, Brad Clark and wife Anne; his daughter, Jan Clark Bunn; grandchildren, Wyatt Bunn and Lila Clark; former wife, Carolyn Clark Harmon; sister, Vicky Clark; aunt and uncle, Rose and Derwood Creech; and devoted companion, Annette Garrison. He is reunited in Heaven with his parents Bettie and Jack Clark, brothers Johnny and Jackie Clark, and many fishing buddies, co-workers and friends. Special thanks to all Linwood’s doctors and nurses at Duke Preston Brain Clinic throughout his treatment process and all care facilities during his illness. Thank you to the wonderful staff at Transitions Hospice for their tremendous care and compassion that they showed Linwood and his family. He was truly loved, cared for and admired by all who met him.
