WILLOW SPRING – James Lloyd “Papa” Fish, 90, passed away on Monday at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Wake County, he was the son of the late Wayland Taft Fish and Reba Adeline Adams Fish.
James who was fondly known as “Papa” or “Jim” graduated from Fuquay Springs High School in 1952. He furthered his education at East Carolina University, Appalachian State University and NC Agricultural and Technical State University, ultimately receiving a master’s degree in school administration. He also faithfully served his country in the United States Army. James was a kind man who worked to leave a positive impact on the people, places, and things around him. This was truly evident in his career as an assistant principal and educator. When he wasn’t working, he spent his down time as an avid volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America as a Scout Master with Troop 738 in Reidsville, NC and as a committee member. James also enjoyed 10 wonderful summers in New Mexico working seasonally at Philmont Scout Ranch, which is owned by the Boy Scouts of America.
