James Mayon Wright

Raleigh - James Mayon Wright, 77, died Thursday at Duke Raleigh Hospital. Mr. Wright was born in Tabor City, NC where he was married and remained until 1958 after which he relocated to Raleigh. He was a master craftsman of woodwork. His craftsman ability carried him to Raleigh where he began a career in plumbing/carpentry with Ward Brothers Construction (Hixton, Dalton, Jr. and Ray Ward) of Raleigh formerly of Tabor City. The Ward Construction Company was instrumental in the early construction of Greenbrier Estates in Raleigh. Before becoming self employed, Mr. Wright continued his career with Stanley & Perritte Construction ( Hubert and Clint Stanley, and Bud Perritte) of Raleigh, formerly of Tabor City. While in semi-retirement, he worked with TLC Construction (Larry and Teresa Green) of Wake Forest. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday at Palmer Memorial Freewill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30-2:30. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. Mr. Wright is survived by his wife and sweetheart of 57 years, Betty June Watts Wright of the home; two daughters, Cindy Davis and husband, Anthony of Clayton and Tammy Boling and husband, Scott of Clayton; four grandchildren, Heather Roegner (Rob) of Willow Springs, Jeremy Stollard (Meredith) of Clayton, Kandace Boling Harris (Rob) of Clayton, Elizabeth Boling of Clayton; two great grandchildren, Kendall and Kamdyn Gillespie Roegner of Willow Springs; one sister, Doris Coker (Bobby) of Tabor City. Mr. Wright had many loving family members, including nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He had some special family friends, the Bill and Ernestine Norris Family as well as his loving church family that was so important to him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Austin Lamar and Catherine Wright of Tabor City and a sister, Lillian Viola Wright.
