James R. Grady

October 31, 1935 — August 15, 2015

Garner - James R. Grady, 79, passed away on August 15, 2015 surrounded by his family.  He was born to the late Marion and Linda Grady on October 31, 1935. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the National Guard.  He attended the University of UNC at Chapel Hill and graduated from LSU School of Banking of the South.  He retired from what is now BB&T after 26 years and later he and his son, Robert Grady Jr., formed Grady’s Moving and Delivery Service, Inc. He is survived by the love of his life, Leta Thomas Grady whom he was married to for 59 years.  Also surviving are daughter Rhonda G. Davis (Greg), son James R Grady Jr., and brother William Allen Grady (Fran) He will be missed by his granddaughters Rachel House, Amanda Chick (Josh), Katie Clark (Dave), Chelsey Grady and Coleen Grady, as well as his great-granddaughters Halley Chick and Lia Chick; nephew, Dr. Allen Grady (Clarke). Memorial Service will be at Benson United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2015.  The family will receive friends at a reception immediately following the service in the church Fellowship Hall.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Benson United Methodist Church Building Fund 4706 Creedmoore Rd. Raleigh NC 27612.  A private inurnment will be held at a later date. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” —2 Timothy 4:7
