James Rufus Seagroves

James R. Seagroves, 75 of Garner passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 17. He was the son of Edna Medlin Seagroves and James R. Seagroves. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 on Friday, October 21 at First Baptist Church of Garner where Jim was a faithful member of the Gold Band Bible Class. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00-10:45. Burial will follow the service at Montlawn Memorial Park.

Jim served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. He was an optician for 50 years, serving on the NC State Board of Opticians and the NC Opticians Association. Jim was a member of the Garner Volunteer Fire Department and a dedicated member of the Garner Optimist Club.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister Nancy Altman and his brothers Charles Seagroves and Ronnie Seagroves. Jim is survived by his wife Camelia Jones Seagroves, of 54 years, daughter Catherine Seagroves Miller and husband Tommy of Willow Springs, brother Donnie Seagroves and wife Sandra of Dunn, sister in law Brenda Johnson of Raleigh, brother in law Jerry Jones and wife Brenda of Garner, and several nieces and nephews.
