James Wade Edenton, Jr.

April 29, 1942 — January 10, 2023

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, James Wade Edenton, Jr., 80, passed away peacefully at his Angier home in the early hours Tuesday, January 10, 2023. He was born in Alexandria, Virginia, as the eldest of five children.

Jim served honorably in the Air Force and retired from IBM in 1997 but did not rest on his laurels. He worked as a handyman, electrician, and work-camper as he traveled the country with his devoted wife, Fredda, in their aptly named Gypsy Turtle RV. He loved traveling, meeting new people and never knew a stranger. He could talk to anyone – at length! He fished, shot pool, camped, traveled, bowled, worked on everything, built it all, and he was always there when you needed him. He was a hero to his children and grandchildren - biological and otherwise; A generous friend, always there to lend a hand; A devoted, loyal, and giving husband; A role model and example to many for how to treat family, friends, and pets, and how to live.

He is survived by his adoring wife, Fredda; children Carol, Rob and Jeff; grandchildren Morgan, Epiphany and Noah; great grandchildren Emma, Dixie and McKenna; brothers Ronnie and Mike and sister, Faye; brothers-in-law Jimmy and Bobby and sister-in-law, Joanne; nieces, nephews and friends galore. We were blessed to have him with us for these 80 years. He will be missed by all.

The family invites friends and family to celebrate Jim’s amazing life at their home in Angier on Saturday, January 14th from 2 to 4 pm.
