Janet E. Marshburn, 83, passed away Tuesday, January 19th, 2016 at Transitions Life Care of Raleigh. Visitation will be from Friday January 29, 6-8 PM at Bryan Lee Funeral home of Garner. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, January 30th at Bryan Lee Funeral Home, Garner, officiated by the Salvation Army, with a brief graveside service to follow at Montlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Janet was born July 28th, 1932 in Roanoke Rapids, NC to Robert “Radio” and Ethel Edwards. She graduated from Needham Broughton in 1950 and married her high school sweetheart Robert Marshburn Sr. on August 25, 1950. Janet and Robert pursued ministry with the Salvation Army for several years prior to working in the private sector. In 1966, Janet and Robert bought Rawls Pump and Supply Company and ran the company for 24 years until selling to their Daughter and Son-in-Law in 1990 and retiring. During her early years at Rawls Pump, Janet was an active member of the Women in Construction organization (NAWIC), culminating as president of her regional chapter and earning a trip to San Francisco. Janet was also very active in the Shrine, and a member of the Daughters of the Nile. She often volunteered her time at various fund raising events for the Amran Temple of the Shrine, with her favorite being the annual restaurant at the NC State Fair. Through the years she enjoyed traveling, crocheting and visiting with her children and grand- children. She was an avid collector of stamps, dolls, romance novels, tom clark figurines and many others. Janet is survived by her daughter Juliana Mingia of Cary and son Robert E. Marshburn Jr. of Raleigh; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Marshburn Sr., her brother, Robert “Bobby” Edwards Jr, her daughters Diane Marshburn and Lynn Neighbors, and parents Robert and Ethel Edwards.
