Janet Matthews Stephenson

GARNER-Janet Matthews Stephenson, 77, of 413 Avery Street, passed away at her home surrounded by her family. Janet is finally at peace after many years of illness. Her body finally surrendered to cancer and we are thankful she will never have to suffer again. She is now in the care of her Lord and Savior. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Monday at First Baptist Church of Garner. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. Surviving husband of 54 years, A. D. Stephenson; son, Chris Daniel Stephenson of Garner; sisters, Virginia Baird and her husband,James of Willow Spring and Louise Williford of Raleigh; brother, Edwin Matthews of Sanford.She was preceded in death by her parents, Lammie and Lura Matthews and brothers, Truett Matthews and Linwood Matthews.Janets greatest joy was being a mother to her only son Chris. She was a kind and generous lady, never forgetting a birthday or a special occasion, by sending cards and with a telephone call to her family and friends. She was loved dearly by her nieces and nephews and will always have a special place in their hearts. Janet was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Garner.Visitation will be 4:00 - 6:00 PM Sunday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner.
