Janette Marie Cooper

RALEIGH - Janette Marie Cooper, born January 23, 1950, entered the Church Eternal on April 26, 2018.  She was born the youngest child of the late Walter Graham and the late Rebecca Bridgers Cooper.  She is predeceased by her brothers Douglas and Larry Cooper. Janettes love for them was exemplary.  She is survived by cousins and many friends who will greatly miss her. Janette loved simple things in life like flowers and travel. She was graduated from Garner High School and worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company until her retirement.  She was a staunch fan of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was a member of Layden Memorial United Methodist Church in Raleigh where she served for many years as its secretary, treasurer and held many key leadership positions in the local church.  Janette faithfully attended the North Carolina Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church as a voting member for many years. She is remembered by all who knew her as a gentle spirit who defined the meaning of “honor your parents” and “loyal friend.” The service celebrating her life will be at 10:00 a.m. at Layden Memorial United Methodist Church, 2607 S. Wilmington St. Raleigh, NC 27603, Tuesday, May 1, 2018.  Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh. Family and friends will gather on Monday, April 30, 2018 at Bryan Lee Funeral Home in Garner from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Instead of flowers, donations to the Janette Marie Cooper Memorial Fund at Layden Memorial United Methodist Church, 2607 S. Wilmington St. Raleigh, NC 27603 are most desired and appreciated.  Please make all checks payable to Layden Memorial UMC.  All funds will later be directed to the North Carolina United Methodist Foundation in Janette’s memory to establish a permanent endowment for use by Layden Memorial United Methodist Church following Janette’s will and direction.
