Janice Jo (Jan) Bonavita

June 10, 1948 — November 25, 2015

CLAYTON- Janice (Jan) Jo Bonavita, beloved Sister, Mother, Aunt and friend, passed away on Wednesday November 25, 2015.  She was born to Lunetta McGee and Joseph D. McGee on June 10, 1948 in Fort Worth Texas. Jan was a joy and inspiration in many lives.  One of her many gifts was the ability to make people she met feel special.  Jan was a friend to countless people and gave her love without judgment.  She saw the best in everyone and valued their highest qualities.   She did not withhold any opinion and shared her thoughts freely while giving individuals the benefit of doubt. Jan never met a stranger.  Throughout her life scores of people found her to be a guiding force in their life.  She wanted to fill any void and right any wrong in a persons life.  She was not only a friend but a surrogate sister, mother, aunt and grandmother to those that may find themselves orphaned both figuratively and in reality. She got so much from her involvement in Mount Zion United Methodist Church.  Jan loved her church family and wanted to contribute to the strong sense of fellowship she received there.  She extended her wish to be inclusive with her contributions. Jan was preceded in death by Peter Bonavita and Patti Jo Bonavita Tuero.  She leaves behind her brothers, sister, sons, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family that she loved dearly.  Jan looked to her older brother Michael (Marsha) throughout her life and was inspired by her younger siblings, Barry and her dear Jeanne (Ken).  Her sons, Stephen Greco (Carmel) and Jeffrey Michael Greco (Catherine) were the lights of her life along with grandsons Nicholas and Joseph Greco.   She always felt a bond with Peter Bonavita, Jr and Frank Bonavita and grandchildren  C.J., Trey, and Alexandra.  Jan was close with her extended family. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Garner.  The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.
