Janie Matthews Holmes

GARNER - Janie Matthews Holmes, 82, went to be with her Lord and savior on March 7, 2017. Janie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and was loved by all that knew her. She dedicated her life to the support and service of her family and was a devout Christian, regularly attending church services at Hayes Chapel Christian Church. She was a bright light to all who knew her, regularly giving of her time and resources to help others. Family and friends were Janie’s love and joy.  She was born in Erwin in 1934 and attended Erwin High School. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel, Garner. Burial will follow at Devotional Gardens, Dunn. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Roy Holmes of Garner and her only son, Leroy Holmes “Junior” and daughter-in-law Jane.  She leaves behind her grandchildren Leslie Holmes Ives (Brandon Ives) and Jason Holmes (Trinity Holmes); sister, Shelby Avery and her 5 great grand-children. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Jane and Junior Holmes, 9408 Middleberry Lane, Raleigh.
