Janis Hawkins

Janis Mallory Hawkins, 78, of Garner, North Carolina, peacefully passed away on 07/07/2022. She was born on 10/14/1943 to parents Arthur and Gloria Mallory of Hamden, CT. Janis was married to James Greatsinger in 1958 in CT. Together they had six children Cheryl Moynihan (died 2017), Todd Greatsinger, Child #3, Eric Greatsinger (died 2019), Melissa Klavitter, and Sean Greatsinger. Janis relocated to Florida in 1979 where she married a second time to Lilbert (Steve) Hawkins (died 2003) in 1981 and had two children Heather Linkens and Heidi Hawkins. Janis worked as a Florist for many years. After retiring, Janis traveled frequently and lovingly spent time with her grown children in Farmington, CT; San Francisco, CA; Garner, NC; and Phoenix, AZ for many years. Janis eventually settled in Garner, NC. She served as the Vice President of the Resident Council at the Laurels at Forest Glen, where she had many friends. Janis was always ready for an adventure, prepared with a joke, and loved to wear fabulous outfits. Her fun-loving, cheerful, witty personality was a bright light to her family, caregivers, and friends. Above all Janis’s joy came from being a mother, grandmother, and GiGi. Janis is survived by her sister, Jill Adams and children Chad Adams and Bethany Travers, 11 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren, and several Grand dogs, Grand cats, and a Grand horse. Funeral arrangements and services will be held at a future date.
